Who Are We? 

Erin Bailey and Nicole Robert bring together a mutual passion for the liberatory possibilities of museum work with a deep love for museums in general.  We ground our work in years of practical museum experience, including work in both history and art museums.

Erin is a graduate from the University of Washington Museology program.  Erin’s research focuses on queer representation in museums and at the time of the QTM project was an Independent Contractor with the Seattle Art Museum.

Nicole currently works at Seattle’s largest private history museum, and teaches at local universities. She holds a PhD in Feminist Studies that builds on an MA in Museology. Her research responds to the problem of disproportionate representations in U.S. history museums, particularly around race, gender and sexuality. Combining queer and women of color feminist theories with museological approaches, Nicole theorizes a critical feminist museology that employs strategies of critical reflection and community engagement to re-model existing museum processes. Erin and Nicole collaboratively created the Queering the Museum project as a way to unite their theoretical research with the practices of museum work.
